REGIONAL TRAINING AND RESOURCE CENTRE
SERVOL has established and currently supervises 62 childcare centres nationwide. Each year, more than 150 teachers care for approximately 2,300 children between the ages of 3 and 5. All teachers have been carefully trained at SERVOL’s Regional Training and Resource Centre.
SERVOL believes that a high-quality early childhood education that is community-based, parent oriented, and administered by trained teachers is one of the most important ways to bring about desirable, fundamental change. Our method, therefore, extends the process of empowerment from the child and parents to the community and, importantly, encourages and permits the teachers to influence parents’ child-rearing practices.
The community is also active in the operation of the centre because each facility is managed by a Village Board of Education which is the official employer of the teachers, monitors their performance, and pays their salaries through funds transferred monthly by SERVOL.
Based on this interconnected approach, SERVOL has implemented the following programmes that cater specifically to children of varying age groups, their parents, their teachers, and the wider community:
CHILDREN
DAY CARE
SERVOL’s three daycare centres are located in Freeport, Point Fortin, and Beetham Gardens. Each facility accommodates eight (8) babies and 12 toddlers, with the exception of Point Fortin, which accommodates 15 toddlers.
PARENTS & COMMUNITIES
PARENT OUTREACH PROGRAMME
Our Parent Outreach Programme utilises a team of competent and trained Facilitators, Field Officers and Coordinators, who conduct home visits in rural areas. These visits focus on empowerment sessions to increase the life chances of children and restore stability in the families with whom they work. Group sessions are held to allow parents to share common problems and solutions.
PRESCHOOLS
SERVOL has established and supervises 71 childcare centres (preschools) nationwide. Each year, more than 150 teachers care for approximately 2,300 children between the ages of 3 and 5. All teachers have been carefully trained at our Regional Training and Resource Centre.

TEACHERS
ECCE CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME
An accredited programme conducted by our Regional Training and Resource Centre, the ECCE Certificate Programme is designed to instruct trainees about the psychological and cognitive needs of young children between the ages of 2 1/2 to 5 years.
